Progress is being made: The first funding commitments under the new federal funding program for charging infrastructure for heavy-duty commercial vehicles have been officially granted. This means that the announcement by the Federal Ministry of Transportation (BMV) has now become a reality, and for many companies, the decisive phase is now beginning: the actual implementation of their charging infrastructure projects.

This sends a strong signal to everyone who has already submitted an application or is planning to do so in upcoming funding rounds. The funding program is working, the funds are flowing, and those who act now can make the transition to battery-electric trucks economically attractive.

From Proposal to Implementation: Now It's All About Finding the Right Charging Solution

With a grant approval in hand, many companies are faced with the next question: How can the planned charging infrastructure project be implemented quickly, reliably, and cost-effectively—especially at locations where grid connection is a bottleneck?

Funding is available for both non-public charging stations at operating yards and depots, as well as publicly accessible charging infrastructure, including grid connections, energy management systems, and battery storage.

The initial approvals show that the process works. Those who submit a well-thought-out site concept early on significantly improve their chances in future calls for proposals.
