(Greven, July 16, 2026) The electrification of heavy-duty transportation in Spain is gaining momentum: More and more logistics companies are turning to electric trucks to meet the requirements of low-emission zones and reduce their carbon footprint. But one critical obstacle is slowing this transition: The Spanish power grid is at its limit. About 75% of the transmission grid’s interconnection points can no longer accommodate additional electricity demand, and new high-power grid connections come with wait times of three to five years. The German startup FleetBoost now offers an immediately deployable solution: mobile battery storage systems that enable ultra-fast charging of electric trucks at up to 400 kW—without the need for grid expansion.
Sesé, one of the leading logistics providers on the Iberian Peninsula and headquartered in Zaragoza, has tested the FleetBooster 20 at its Zaragoza facility. With over 16,000 employees in 15 countries, Sesé is an integrated supply chain service provider whose range of services includes land, air, and sea transportation, logistics, and module assembly for the automotive industry.
The tests in Zaragoza demonstrate how the FleetBooster performs under real-world conditions in the Spanish market: Despite a limited grid connection of only 80 kW, the FleetBooster can provide 20 charging points with up to 400 kW of power, combined with solar energy, provided it is available at the site. The region of Aragon, where Zaragoza is located, records more than 2,800 hours of sunshine per year, making it one of the sunniest regions in Europe—which makes the combination of photovoltaic integration and the FleetBooster particularly attractive.
With 2,500 to 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, Spain is one of the sunniest countries in Europe, offering ideal conditions for generating solar power. However, this natural advantage is offset by a structural problem: the grid connection infrastructure is operating at full capacity. A new high-capacity grid connection can take years to establish and involves significant costs. For transportation and logistics companies looking to electrify their fleets, this is a real obstacle to growth. Many logistics centers in Spain have grid connections of just 80 kW—far too little for fast-charging electric trucks. This is exactly where FleetBoost comes in.
The FleetBooster systems, available as 20- and 40-foot containers, function as smart energy storage units on wheels. They charge slowly via the existing grid connection (starting at 80 kW) and deliver the stored energy at high power when needed: up to 400 kW for the FleetBooster 20 (1.06 MWh) and up to 800 kW for the FleetBooster 40 (2.1 MWh).
In Spain in particular, the integration of photovoltaic systems offers enormous potential: Solar power generated on-site is stored directly in the FleetBooster and used to charge the trucks. This not only reduces dependence on the grid but also significantly lowers energy costs.

FleetBoost technology has already proven its effectiveness under real-world conditions. DB Intermodal Services, a subsidiary of the Deutsche Bahn Group, uses the FleetBooster 40 at its logistics site in Großbeeren to charge its fleet of electric trucks. Despite a grid connection of only 100 kW, charging power of up to 800 kW is achieved. The system enables scalable, off-grid fast charging at a level that was previously only possible with a medium-voltage connection.
FleetBoost is a German startup based in Greven (North Rhine-Westphalia) that develops mobile energy storage solutions and high-performance charging infrastructure for heavy-duty electric vehicles.
